Today I went to COSI for their Backyard Science Day. My mentor and I set up a table with a display explaining what Stream Quality Monitoring is. We also had lots of bug samples to show to kids and families. When the kids came over we’d ask if they liked bugs and give them an easy description of SQM. We told them that it’s better to have lots of bugs in the water and that having lots of bugs is good for the ecosystem. It was a fun experience getting to show kids different bugs, that they have probably never seen. I hope I inspired some kids to think about science and keeping their creek clean. Next week I’ll be going to Kenyon College for their Earth Day event!
