This week at my mentor siteI worked on writing information on different macroinvertebrates. The scenic rivers program will take this information and put it into the new and updated SQM (Stream Quality Monitoring) booklet. This will help when out in the field because volunteers will be able to identify more bugs and help to prevent volunteers from accidentally wrongly identifying macroinvertebrates. The next day Tiffany and I went out to some of the State property and searched around for Skunk Cabbage which grows out of the ground, once it starts to get warm out. We were lucky to get a fairly warm day and got to see a lot of Skunk Cabbage. We walked around the property also doing a property check to make sure the property lines were still being enforced. On our trek back we found a small feline skull, which Tiffany thought belonged to a cat. We also found some other bone parts. Overall it was cool to get to hike out and see around places that I usually don’t get to see. I hope we get a chance to go out again.
